Abdul Raheem Abdullah, Funadhoo Constituency Member-elect, popularly known as Adhurey, has been selected as the 20th Speaker of the Parliament. The decision was made during a meeting held today between President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the newly elected members of the Progressive National Congress (PNC) for the upcoming parliament.

During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu nominated several key positions for the parliament, with Adhurey being put forward as the Speaker. The nominations also included Dhiggaru Constituency Member-elect Ahmed Nazim for the post of Vice-President of the Parliament, Inguraidhoo Constituency Member-elect Ibrahim Falah for the position of Parliamentary Group Leader, and Baarashu Constituency Member-elect Ibrahim Shujau as the Senior Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Group.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu nominated Vilimale Constituency Member-elect Mohamed Ismail, Mahibadhoo Constituency Member-elect Ahmed Thorig, and Hulhudhoo Constituency Member-elect Mohamed Shahid as deputy leaders of the Parliamentary Group.

All the proposed nominations were unanimously approved by the members present at today's meeting, signaling a cohesive and unified approach by the PNC as they prepare for the upcoming parliamentary sessions.
