President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, SC, M.P., and the Government of Barbados for their exceptional hospitality during his stopover in Barbados today.
Upon arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA), President Muizzu was warmly welcomed by the Hon. C. Sandra V. Husbands, M.P., Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, along with Ms. Resa Layne, Chief of Protocol. The President and his delegation were treated to a tour showcasing the cultural and historical sites of the island.
Although Prime Minister Mottley was out of the country, President Muizzu conveyed his gratitude through a telephone conversation. During this call, he expressed his appreciation for the beautiful sights and the generous hospitality extended to him and his delegation, which left them with fond memories of Barbados.
President Muizzu also commended Prime Minister Mottley’s leadership at the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), particularly her efforts in advocating for the reform of the international financial architecture. He highlighted the Maldivian Government's commitment to collaborating with Barbados on implementing the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS.
This stopover in Barbados was part of President Muizzu's return journey to the Maldives after his visit to Antigua and Barbuda for the SIDS4 conference.
