In his Eid-ul-Adha address, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu called on the people of the Maldives to celebrate Eid in accordance with Islamic principles and to avoid incorporating traditions that are contrary to Islamic morality and the cherished customs of the Maldivian people.
Delivering his greetings to the nation, President Muizzu emphasized the importance of observing Eid with respect and kindness. He asked every island and every family to prioritize reviving the good principles of treating each other with respect and kindness.
President Muizzu also urged the people to reflect on the blessings bestowed by Allah. He highlighted the significance of children understanding the importance of Eid traditions, such as lighting Eid lights, celebrating, greeting each other, saying Takbir Tahlil, fostering social spirit, and participating in sports, as expressions of Islamic faith and community involvement. He encouraged parents to instill pride in Islam and Maldivian identity in their children during such occasions.
Furthermore, the President called for the Maldivian people to prioritize prayers for the people of Palestine during this year's Eid al-Adha. He reiterated the Maldives' steadfast condemnation of the atrocities committed against Palestinian Muslims and reaffirmed the nation's commitment to the noble jihad to liberate the Al-Aqsa Mosque. President Muizzu stated that the Islamic Ummah is like one body and that the prayers and assistance of Muslims in various countries to the Palestinian people are proof that the whole body bears the pain of one part of the body.
President Muizzu also extended Eid greetings to the leaders of Islamic countries, reinforcing the spirit of unity and solidarity among the global Muslim community.
