During the public gathering held by the opposition coalition, the speech of Heena Waleed, has put her under fire for degrading the film industry.

In her speech, the spokesperson of the opposition political party, the People's National Congress, Heena Waleed, said that producing movies is what President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih knows best. In reference to the title of the movie, ‘Ley Karuna’ (loosely translated as bloody tears), the President produced, Heena stated that it is the reason why the President gets emotional often.

Following the statement by Heena, many who are working in the filmmaking industry raised their concerns. They have criticized Heena for degrading the film industry. Many have accused Heena of describing the film industry as a cheap industry. In response to Heena's statement, many Producers and actors of the film industry have said that both working in the filmmaking industry and acting in the movies are amazing professions.

Along with the concerns raised by the film industry workers, many spoke from the public, raising concerns for Heena setting a bad example for the youth. They called Heena for degrading certain professions or talents.

In between the concerns raised by the film industry workers, opposition party members/supporters tried to defend Heena by saying that she agreed that the President was good at producing films and suggested that he go back to it rather than continue the presidency.

The public gathering organized by the opposition coalition parties was held on December 26. During which, many members who spoke called to free the former President Yameen from Jail.
