The couple arrived in Agra earlier today to tour the 17th-century monument, famously built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

This is not the first time a Maldivian head of state has visited the Taj Mahal. During a previous state visit, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his wife were also photographed in front of the historic landmark, following in the tradition of showcasing the monument to international dignitaries.
After visiting the Taj Mahal, President Dr. Muizzu is scheduled to continue his state visit to Bangalore today.
