The Maldives has been recognized as the World’s Leading Destination for the fifth consecutive year at the prestigious World Travel Awards. The awards ceremony took place in Portugal yesterday, celebrating global excellence in tourism.

In addition to being named the World’s Leading Destination, the Maldives also received the accolade of World’s Leading Green Destination, further underscoring its commitment to sustainable tourism practices.

Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal and MMPRC Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree accepted the awards on behalf of the nation. Speaking at the event, Minister Faisal highlighted the collective effort of the tourism sector in achieving this milestone. He noted that such accolades provide a significant boost to the industry, further cementing the Maldives’ reputation on the global stage.

In the Indian Ocean category, the Maldives also garnered awards for Leading Honeymoon Destination, Leading Green Destination, and Leading Dive Destination, showcasing its diverse appeal to travelers worldwide.
