Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) of the Maldives started an investigation on the parliament speaker Mr. Mohamed Nasheed along with some other parliament members, in accusation of working towards someone else's benefit on the project of new seaplane terminal, while it could have benefitted more to the state.
ACC says that they have received a lot of criticism and issues in regards to the new seaplane terminal, and most of the issues are raised against the parliament speaker Mr. Nasheed along with some other parliament members.
Concerns have been raised over the fact, Mr Nasheed meeting the TMA board members at the new parliament building, after the state deciding to hand over the new seaplane terminal project to TMA. He also then tweeted in agreement to the states decision on the project handover to TMA.
In regards to the ongoing investigation of the new seaplane terminal project, ACC has mentioned that they have advised Maldives Airport Company Ltd (MACL) on things to improve regarding the issues raised from the project.
ACC also elaborated that the investigation shows working towards the benefit of specific seaplane operators, putting the state's benefits from it into more disadvantage.
