Former President Al-Ustaz Mohammad Abdul Gayoom has emphasized that while every individual has the right to freedom of expression, it should not lead to division among the people.

Speaking at the first forum organized by the Maumoon Foundation this Ramadan, President Maumoon highlighted the importance of maintaining unity despite differences in opinion.

Addressing the Ihya Forum on the topic "The Strong Foundation of Islam", he underscored the significance of Islam’s pillars and their sanctity. He reiterated that Islam upholds the principles of free expression but cautioned that such expression should not create discord among communities. “Even if there are differences in views, our hearts should remain united, and we should remain as brothers,” he stated.

During his 30-year tenure, President Maumoon regularly conducted revival forums every Ramadan. He has continued the tradition through the Ihya forums, held annually to discuss Islamic teachings and values.
