The Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has recorded 17 people positive to Covid-19 from Kandima Maldives Resort.
Following the recent initial case from the resort, HPA has collected 20 test samples for Covid-19, from which 17 people have been reported positive. Due to a high number of positive cases, HEOC has said that high-risk individuals at Kandima resort are being moved to isolation facilities.
Moreover, a medical team from the Dhaalu Atoll Hospital is at the resort for contact tracing and to take more samples from the resort.
The resort is currently under monitoring since Saturday evening and restricting any transportation in and out of the resort. Tourists on the resort will be permitted to depart if they are not in contact with the positive cases and if they test negative for Covid-19.
The first covid-19 case from a Kandima resort was reported, from a staff taken to Dhaalu atoll hospital on Friday night due to deteriorated health. His test results came positive after he passed away.
So far, HEOC records show 38 deaths due to complications of Covid-19, this includes 32 Maldivians and 06 Foreigners.
