The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Moosa Zameer, has successfully concluded his official visit to Sri Lanka, which took place from June 3 to June 6, 2024. The primary objective of the visit was to enhance bilateral ties and explore further cooperation between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.

During his visit, Minister Zameer paid courtesy calls on Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. In these meetings, the leaders reviewed the existing relationship between their countries and discussed avenues for future collaboration. Minister Zameer expressed optimism about strengthening diplomatic relations and enhancing collaboration in various sectors soon.

In addition to meeting the country's top leaders, Minister Zameer held bilateral talks with his Sri Lankan counterpart, Foreign Minister Ali Sabry. These discussions focused on reinforcing the already robust relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka and addressing mutual interests.

Minister Zameer also visited the High Commission of Maldives in Sri Lanka, where he met with the staff and interacted with the Maldivian community residing in the country. These interactions provided an opportunity for the Minister to address the concerns of Maldivians living in Sri Lanka and to ensure their well-being.

Accompanying Minister Zameer on this visit were State Minister Sheryna Abdul Samad, Additional Secretary Shiruzimath Sameer, and Director General Aishath Fareena. Their presence underscored the importance of the visit and the commitment of the Maldivian government to strengthening ties with Sri Lanka.
