The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has called on civil servants to participate in a protest scheduled for the 31st of this month, highlighting salary inequalities between political appointees and civil service employees.

During a rally last night, MDP member Azim emphasized the importance of addressing these disparities and urged civil servants to voice their concerns by joining the protest. He noted that civil service employees earn significantly less than political appointees, despite their vital role in the functioning of the government.

Azim stated that the participation of civil servants is crucial, as they are directly affected by the issues of low pay. He called on them to take to the streets and demand higher salaries for civil servants and reduce salaries for political employees.

He also warned that failure to address these inequalities could lead to further difficulties for the public sector workforce. Azim reiterated that the protest aims to unite people in demanding fair compensation and standing against policies that favor political appointees over civil servants.
