Minister of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib has announced that 1,820 people will receive flats from the list issued by the previous administration under the "Gedhoruveriya" housing scheme.
The previous government launched the scheme on June 22, 2022, and the Housing Ministry later released a permanent list of 4,000 flat recipients on November 15 of that year. However, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) raised concerns regarding the list and requested a review. Following the ACC's directive, the current government reassessed the list, and the minister presented the updated results at a press conference today.
According to the revised list, 1,423 people from the initial allocation of 3,721 three-bedroom flats have secured flats, having scored more than 76 points. Additionally, out of 1,218 applicants initially approved for two-bedroom flats, 397 individuals scored over 73 points and have been confirmed as recipients.
Meanwhile, 3,119 people were deemed ineligible, with 2,695 failing to meet the required criteria and 424 not accumulating enough points during the evaluation.
Mutalib stated that the verification process was conducted through the designated online portal, ensuring that no alterations were made to the submitted information.
